- In Karnataka there has been a severe dengue fever outbreak since 2012. There have been 3,140 positive cases in the state, resulting in 21 deaths in 2012
- Infection with the Dengue Virus can result in sever fever, also known as Dengue Hemmorhagic Fever, which can be fatal. However, mortality can be greatly reduced (to less than 1%) if the fever is diagnosed early and managed properly.
